Sotheby's Puts an Emerald Tiara on the Auction Block in Geneva

I love to browse the offerings at Sotheby's Auction house. Of course, I can't afford anything...the prices are too rich for my blood, but I can still dream.

On May 17, 2011 Sotheby's will have an auction of Magnificent Jewels in Geneva. The highlight of the auction is the magnificent Emerald Tiara featured here. The piece is the most valuable emerald and diamond tiara to have appeared at auction in over 30 years.

For more information on this fabulous piece, the chairman of Sotheby's has prepared an online video which can be accessed on this page of the Sotheby's site. (be prepared - the video has some music playing.) The video is very informative and worth the time to view it. It discusses the history of the jewels in the crown and other aspects of the piece and previous owner.

To view other listings in the auction, please visit their online e catalogue to get a glimpse of more magnificent jewels.

  1. A stunning piece of history. I love how diamonds compliment the large emeralds. I would love an opportunity to see this piece in person.

  2. Hi, the official page on Sotheby's does not say anything about the Duchess of Windsor owning the tiara. http://www.sothebys.com/en/catalogues/ecatalogue.html/2011/magnificent-jewels-and-noble-jewels-ge1102#/r=/en/ecat.fhtml.GE1102.html+r.m=/en/ecat.lot.GE1102.html/443/
