Sotheby's auction house recently had a fabulous sale of jewelry in London. The sale was held on March 17 and the pieces were just wonderful. Among the listings were some delicate cannetille work jewels from the early 19th Century incorporating pink topaz; several Archaeological revival jewels from the mid 19th Century including an attractive bangle by Phillips of Cockspur Street.
One particular highlight was a very versatile late 19th Century jewel that can be worn as a corsage ornament, a tiara and also as a necklace, as well as converting to pendants, brooches and jewelled hair decorations.
Many jewels from the famous jewelry houses of Bulgari, Boucheron, Van Cleef & Arpels appeared in the sale. And from Cartier, a collection of beautiful hand-colored jewelry designs from the 40s and 50s was featured.
Here are some of my favorites:
For all of the results, you can see the list on this page of the Sotheby's website. The auction house is also currently taking consignments for their next sale of fine jewelry which will take place on July 13 in London.
